At one time, I had 8" examples of Crosby, Lunkenheimer, Powell
and Lonergan. Surprisingly, the Crosby was a real disappointment
but I still have it on DVD. The Lunk was an older bald top and a real
sweet whistle. I was asked to make it available to the group back East that
got the big 0-6-0 113 running, so I sold it to them. Hope somebody is
enjoying it.
Best whistle that I ever heard, and Tom Irion might back me up on this, is
a 4 chime that was mounted on an NdeM QR-1 4-8-4. Virgil Staff taped it
and the sound makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Haunting.
