The Cog used to use Skyline on the downhill trips to give the brakes a chance to cool. Todays hydraulic brakes allow a steady decent without overheating brakes. In 1996 or 98 I saw the cog for the first time at the summit. One train went down, and two came up as sections. Then we watched the two depart and two more come up. Very busy July day. I miss seeing all that steam up there.
