We don't have no loco drivers these parts... Driver gloves are those little fu-fu gloves that rich people use when they bring the BMW out of the garage...and OTR truckers driving for Walmart.
But all snootiness aside, I was talking to one of the senior engineers up in Silverton and told him his gloves looked shabby with a lot of holes and rips. He said that the gloves were 3 or 4 DAYS old and needed replacement about once a week. The vibrating metal parts really wear the glove (and body) down quickly. Next time I ride the train I'll corner the fireman and maybe get a fuller report.
