Interesting. I wonder how much the WPB had to do with the bearing issue?
On the Santa Fe, the 2900 and 5011 classes were delivered without class upgrades like roller bearings and light weight materials because of the war. The identical class to the 2900s were the 3776 class and they did have the roller bearings and light weight materials as it was a pre war production.
