I was sure it was not 36" gauge. I know meter and cape are different, but I could not recall which if not both you had. I keep forgetting that you've got 5' 3" and not 5'.

I recall seeing somewhere an Austrailian company offering dual gauge switches like the US dual gauge and an alternative which was to gauge separate the two gauges (not dual gauge trains) with two regular switches (one for each gauge) and three gauge splits plus a wide gauge/narrow gauge crossing. Really neat stuff.
I seem to recall the largest gauge was in Russia. It is/was about 550 feet. Used for lifting river craft from one lake over a ridge to another lake on the other side of the ridge. Long time since I saw this. I think it was Wikipedia.
