Hello Doug,
Australia still has triple gauge, but the broad gauge is 5'3", not 6'. And metre and cape gauge are different, metre gauge is about 3'3" and cape gauge is 3'6",
South Australia (my home state) used to have triple gauge yards (http://www.johnnyspages.com/classic_pictures_menu_files/classic_bob's_pictures_6.htm#sar_narrow_guage) but in modern times we only have minimal broad and standard dual gauge. The local rail museum (http://www.natrailmuseum.org.au/ ) has some triple gauge track in use.
Just educatin' ya!
