Haven't even got the RGS event out of the way, and I am already mentally salivating over the possibilities for 2018. I really wish that the CRM could see the bigger picture - not just for the C&TS but GTL & D&S as well. A well planned and promoted event brings in the traveling public and hence potential increased patronage through the museum. The all the groups need to work together. Each has great skills that could be utilised within the community. Steaming a "full size" loco to crawl round and round a circuit does nothing for the locomotive, except produce uneven wear. Get the things out there as part of sponsoring the event - could even be used as a funds raiser for the museum. From a distance, current behavior and attitudes look very small minded.

Had planned that the RGS charter would be my last NG trip for a while. It is costing a bomb and it is getting harder to subject myself to the actual 24+ hour flights, but have always wanted to see the OY in action, so I would be back. (just hope there is potentially more snow in early May than we had in March for this years "Snow Clearance" charter)
