Taking a little break from C&TS stuff. I found some slides of a road trip my dad, little brother and I made through RGS country in July of 1976. It's amazing how much has changed, and how much had been lost in the last 40 years. To put it different prospective, the RGS had only been abandoned 25 years before these pics were taken. Back then we had nowhere near as much information as to what was still there, what was hiding in corners, in fields, etc. You went out there and started poking around. A lot of stuff got missed, and some of the stuff we found later disappeared into history.
Ridgway Depot - still looks pretty much the same today....
Up at Peak, at the summit of Dallas Divide, a former C&S stock car body sat on the right of way....
A couple of miles down the north side of Dallas Divide toward Placerville, this timber trestle was beside the highway.
