Great stuff Earl! My first real exploration of the remains of the RGS ROW was also in '76. Not trying to sound too much like a cranky old guy, but I've remarked before that, to a certain extent the wealth of detailed information available today takes away some of the joy of discovery that came from doing it mostly on your own. Yes, we missed things sometimes when we didn't "poke around" in quite the right places, but the semi-informed exploring was rewarding in a way that can't be duplicated by following GPS coordinates.
And yes, it's astonishing to go back now and see how much has been lost in the intervening years.
Thanks for posting these and bringing back those '76 memories.
