I agree that we should never forget our history or those who gave their last full measure of devotion so our nation and our freedoms might survive.
However I do agree with Jerry that if we post to this group there should be a narrow gauge connection.

I offer the following.

In 2013 we planned to run an equipment move on the 7th of December.
In preparation for the event I asked Jimmy Blouch find out what had gone on on Dec 7, 1941.
I planned to have a flag ceremony and play taps at Osier. We had a group of people who were going to come and ride the train including some men who had a connection to Pearl Harbor.. Unfortunately we got a very large snow storm several days before and chose to cancel the trip rather than risk getting a train load of people stranded along the railroad.

December 7 1941:

No. 215 with engine 473
Depart Alamosa 7:00 AM
Arrive Cumbres 10:23 AM
Depart Cumbres 10:25 AM
Arrive Chama 11:10 AM

No. 216 with engine 472
Depart Chama 4:05 PM
Cumbres times not shown
Arrive Alamosa 8:30 PM

Extra 482 west with helper engine 485
Depart Alamosa 2:30 AM
At Los Pinos let No. 215 by
Arrive Cumbres 10:40 AM
Extra 485 west depart Cumbres 10:55 AM light for Chama
Extra 482 west depart Cumbres 11:05 AM
Arrive Chama 12:15 PM with 20 loads 39 empties

Crews for 2 Cumbres turns were called for 9:10 PM, actual time on Cumbres Pass was during early morning Dec 8 1941

1st turn with engines 489, 484 and 482 depart Cham 11:50 PM with 19 loads 3 empties
Arrive Cumbres 1:35 AM with 19 loads 3 empties, set out, turn
Extra 489 west depart Cumbres 1:50 AM with caboose for Chama
Extra 484 west depart Cumbres 2:55 AM light for Chama
Extra 482 west depart Cumbres 2:00 AM light for Chama

2nd turn with engines 484, 473 and 482 depart Chama 4:30 AM with 14 loads 1 empty
Arrive Cumbres 6:20 AM with 14 loads 1 empty, set out, turn
Extra 473 east depart Cumbres 6:20 AM light for Alamosa
Extra 484 west depart Cumbres 6:30 AM with caboose for Chama
Extra 482 west depart Cumbres 6:35 AM light for Chama

Those were the only trains called for duty on Dec 7 1941, between Alamosa and Chama.

Not only are the 484 and 489 still in service on Cumbres pass the west bound San Juan was crossing Lobato trestle when the bombs started falling at Pearl Harbor.
