Late July and August saw my first adventure into car "restoration" or at least painting and lettering. I don't recall why this car was painted to begin with, but in the sprit of times, I proudly lettered it for the C&TS.
By the time I got around to shooting the other side that afternoon, it was raining.....
Here's me doing the my usual thing..... running the engines around the yard to the coal dock, ash pit and sandhouse. The coal dock was just south of the ashpit then on one of the enginehouse leads. We used the sandhouse as intended, drying the sand in the big stove and lifting it into the hopper by compressed air from the locomotive. The water tank was not in service, we used hoses to fill the tenders.
At the end of August things would change a bit.
