Pretty much correct. The public pathway is actually on the D&RG roadbed, and yes, it extends to the left a bit above the river. There are even a few old ties alongside the path. Continuing north it's clearly visible until you cross county road 24 and enter the State Park and near the old Dallas town location. There is actually a very short portion of the original roadbed (maybe 100 feet or so) still visible on the east side of the river, south of the railroad bridge on the pathway, hidden in some trees. This was abandoned in 1891 when the D&RG relocated to the west side of the river to share facilities at the Ridgway depot with the RGS. From the north entrance to the State Park the grade is clearly visible pretty much all the way to Colona, with about four bridges (or remains of bridges) still standing.
