That's what I heard about the South Park line, the cost of upgrading the track would have been too much. The same could have been said about converting the locomotives on the South Park line to oil.
I haven't heard of any plans to have leased K-27s in the 1930s on the Clear Creek lines. The oil burning #70 was used on the Clear Creek lines but a trip to Como and back from Denver was too far..
