I've been only about 1/4 - maybe 1/3 - as far along that trial as John has, and even from that spot (and a bit down the hill from the trail) there is a pretty good view:

p.s. Actually, I cheated on the first shot above by climbing UP from the r.o.w. during a photo run-by on 09/30/62 (at the tender age of 20.75); IMHO, it is MUCH easier to take the trail and hike down as I did for the second shot 13 years later, and the last two just twenty years ago this month.  OTOH, as John noted above, you have to pretty much commit the entire morning to shooting from just that one spot - or very close by to catch the regular train an hour or three after the Phraud-O-Freight that I presume will be your primary target.
