Interesting, Brian -

And as the #1 gadfly on the NGDF, it behooves me to ask, didn't the C&C also have a second Loco #1, a 2-8-0 inherited from the N-C-O,* or was that not until the S.P. days?   Or is my memory fading even faster than it was a year ago?

* IIRC, one of only two locos on the S.P. narrow gauge equipped with Wahlshearts valve gear - the other being 4-6-0 #18, which is currently being restored in scenic Independence, CA.
