I have attached a photo from the NGDF that shows the hotel and dining facilities probably sometime in the early 1930's based on the car and the condition of the platform down by the restaurant and hotel. Herb Danneman in "A Ticket to Ride the Narrow Gauge" has the Cimarron lunch stop ending by 1928 and this is reflected in the 1932 Timetabe where there is a 20 minute stop in Gunnison. The new station was opened at Gunnison in 1932 and the former baggage house by the La Veta Hotel was moved behind the station. You can see the lunch sign on several pictures of the station. In the1935 Timetable, Montrose was the end of 315-and the beginning of 316 eliminating two sections of the train with the engine crews and train crews only changed at Gunnison, the Salida crew after rest ran back on 316 ( see Jimmy Blouch's thread for 1935). Then the Gunnison-Montrose run was eliminated the next year. Without an AFE for the exact date, I assume the hotel and restaurant was torn down after the passenger run was eliminated in 1936 and the station was closed.
