A couple of recent posts have mentioned the Oriental Refinery in Alamosa. I did a little Googling to see what I could find, and while the answer is not much, it did find some posts mentioning Oriental glass "globes" that went on top of retail pumps, an eBay offer for an Oriental Refinery sponsored highway map of Colorado, plus some mention of Oriental having refineries in Denver and Alamosa, and in the early 50's a network of retail service stations between Denver and Pueblo Since the Alamosa refinery was so important to the ng. in its last years, I wonder if anyone here has access to more info or even a history of the Oriental operation, why it closed, and so on. Seems to me it was an fairly integral part of the history of the ng., at least from a business perspective. And now we have all those tanks lined up at Chama, we need more interpretive material! Here is my one and only picture of the refinery in Alamosa.
