Geese 5 and 4 have the GMC 361 motors. As far as I know these GMC motors have a full pressure oiling system and are not "babbit beaters". Goose 7 had a 361 GMC motor in it partially disassembled, the CRRM could not find parts for the GMC motor and installed a 1956 261 Chevy motor with a 4 speed transmission from a light truck. Goose 3 at Knotts installed a 6 cylinder REO motor soon after they got it, then replaced the Reo with a Cummings Diesel' Goose 6 had a 216 Chevy installed in 1951. The CRRM has the recquistion from the RGS to a Chevy dealer in Montrose, an early crate engine. This was a "babbit beater, 1950 engine. Bob Shank Jr. tried to get 6 running when he owned it in Durango, got it to cough a few times but never really ran. The CRRM put a fully rebuilt 1956 Chevy 235 with a 4 speed in it. This 6 cylinder is a full pressure oiler. Goose six is the "hot rod" of the CRRM's 3 Geese..Goose 2 has a Buick 1930 six cylinder motor. All three of the CRRM's Geese are operable, as well as Geese 3, 4 and 5.The GMCs have a low oil pressure switch. If you loose oil pressure the motor stops. You have to press a switch to by pass the oil pressure switch in order to start the motor, on 5 anyway. The 361 GMC motor out of 7 and the Knotts Reo are in Dolores as spares for Goose 5
This info is correct as far as I can determine. The Chevy car motors were babbit beaters up to 1953 when only the Powerglide equipped cars were full pressure oilers. In 1954 all the Chevy sixes were full pressure. The GMC motors had a 5 speed transmission behind them.
