Something to consider with models is in a tight curve on a grade the two rail do not climb at the same rate. Therefore there is a "twist" involved, i.e. the inside rail is shorter therefore climbs at a greater rate. A non-equalized long wheelbase model rod engine will not have all of it's wheels firmly on the rails. This is where Geared engines have an advantage over rod engines, more wheels on the rail=more pull. Model engines, however, usually pull far more than the prototype anyway. JP
