Thanks Russo. Eddie was a good friend. As Earl said in the thread you referred to above, Eddie was shot by a "girlfriend" in his own bedroom in the Chama depot, in the station agent's apartment. They had gotten into an argument over money - he had just returned from a stay in the hospital, and had missed a paycheck - and while he was in the kitchen preparing dinner for the two of them, she "allegedly" picked up his revolver off the bed where he always laid it when off duty, and shot him to death. Although Eddie was a sweet and gentle man, she claimed self-defense, and since there were no witnesses, she went free.
BTW, just to be historically accurate, Eddie was an employee of the State Railroad Authority. I was the second employee hired by Scenic Railways in the Spring of 1971. Mike Carr was the first, 5 minutes ahead of me.
