Steve:We were following the DSP&P ROW from Gunnison east to the tunnel. We passed through Parlin, Pitkin and Quartz on our journey. We did not come over Hancock Pass. The road is blocked right after the Sherrod Curve and we walked just under a mile along the ROW to the area past Split Rock. The tunnel is about 3 miles from where we parked.

Two books that we used as references were:

1. Historic Alpine Tunnel by Dow Helmers
2. The South Park Line by Mallory Hope Ferrell
