Ballast is sourced locally. Ties did come in on the standard gauge. If the coal mine near Durango that serves the D&S and C&TS were to close, one potential option could be railing coal in on the standard gauge from some other source (most likely Utah at this point). Let's all hope that the mine in Durango does not close, though its future, like all Colorado coal mining these days, is clouded.

The crusher at Martinez Point has not been used for several years, with no definite date as to when it might be put back in service.
