To add a little, Bill Pennington was a Western Pacific engineer who went back to the days of steam. I rode a switch engine with him one May 1970 afternoon in Portola, CA where he worked out
of. Bill was friends with most of the old school fans, like Guy Dunscomb and Grahame Hardy. Also Bob Larson & Norm Holmes who are still with us.
Story went that when he died, his current wife took all of his negatives to the nearby dump and I accepted that until a gent named Jack Muzio contacted me and asked if I was interested in Bill's
logging and shortline negs, which he had for many years. I got a few shortlines (no RGS) and a lot of nice loggers. Plans are for some of these to end up in future book releases.
I guess that I should have a narrow gauge connection here. Jack Muzio told me that when he was just a young kid, he and and a friend bummed a ride behind a ng Shay that was scrapping rail on the old Feather River Lbr. line at Dellecker (sp?) just west of Portola. The train had a runaway and Jack caught hell from his mom after she heard what happened.
