The 493, 498 and 499 were all stored serviceable and had been kept indoors since retirement in Alamosa. When moved to Durango in 1980, they were also stored indoors and all were in very nice shape being kept out of weather/elements. They were put outside for some reason in the late nineties(?) possibly to make room for the museum.
The 493 is going to the CRRM, and the 499 is at the Royal Gorge rotting.
There isn't much left of the 498.
What would the C&TS do or want with the 498? They have 497 in complete and serviceable condition stored indoors they have done nothing with in the last 10+ years. No need and more to the point, no interest.
