I believe 498 was the last loco to operate a revenue train for the D&RG NG and was stored in the Alamosa roundhouse until 1980.
I have read that it should be in good shape.
However, given what happened with the 478 483 trade, I would bet both John Bush and the D&S would both be very hesitant to discuss another trade for a while.
