Hi,

Have you considered print on demand publishing? It has many pitfalls, but my 400-odd page book on the Gainesville Midland Railroad was published that way. It cost about $4-5000 (for B&W) and I have sold about 1100 books since it was first published in 2006. I am still receiving royalties on book sales of about 3-4 per year I never turned the book off (go out of print). If I had had the cash, I would have done the book in color. It would have cost another $3000 for color (I think).

As for return on investment, I recovered the up front costs after the 450th book

As for nay sayers about low quality 300 DPI images, I used 600 or higher DPI ( I tried for 900 DPI or larger) for almost all of my images (I think all). The problem with B&W is that it does not do gray scale for B&W photos. It makes them B&W so some images are nothing but smudges. If you consider this, learn from my learning experiences.

I felt it was best to gett the information out and although some say they want the best images possible, I felt this was better than no information at all. Your choice is yours. Just offering options to think about/

Just an option.
