No bearings were removed as far as I know. A week ago Wednesday diesel 11 and a train of 2 flat cars and a caboose came up along with a crew from the D&S, as well as the 491 crew from the CRRM museum. The side rods were removed and returned with that work train to Durango. On Thursday, the CRRM guys worked on the engine on the tail track of the wye to make sure the journals and related were free and well lubricated, and then on the moving day, May 4, they gave everything another going over. They made sure everything was secure and nothing was hanging loose, they removed the last of the coal and that was the bulk of the work. As I mentioned before, it seemed like the 493 pulled itself together and left town looking rather dignified--missing a few parts and pieces, but still a good looking locomotive.
