Having become friends of Richard and Bob, and having been allowed access to the car, I have several thoughts…
1) This is a spectacular restoration… they save what can be saved (using epoxy and splicing in new material) , make new parts as needed, and have sources proper parts across the west… The result is a “museum quality” restoration, well documented, well thought out… (and I say this as a museum professional… )
2) The car has two individual under frames… a upper or body frame supporting the car body, and an under frame, supporting the draft gear and taking draft forces. As best I can tell this is unique to the C&S/South Park.
Richard and I have lots of long phone calls, discussing things he finds (like little triangular pieces of wood glued to the frame/siding… ) He was by my museum in Nevada last week… He and Bob are doing this right...
