It's been awhile since I read the story, and I can't remember which book, but Bob Richardson wrote a story about his purchase of 360 or 361 (can't remember which). He received a phone call that his locomotive was loaded on a flatcar in Salida and headed for CF&I to be scrapped. At the time, Bob was protesting the abandonment of D&RGW narrow gauge - the Silverton branch in particular. He had brought documents to court hearings to prove that it was very possible for the line to make a profit, making the D&RGW petition for abandonment get rejected. Railroad management got their vengeance.
