Yes, Dave R. is still well and living in Golden. I see him occasionally at the CRRM along with Lindsey.
Ah....the early days...manhandling the gas water pump down by the creek, pushing cold hard grease into the pins with a hand powered grease gun, all servicing and work out in the open.
In that first year, Jerry, Rick and I would cover most jobs, rotating around. For example, on days that Jerry had off, Rick would be the fireman (Roy or Floyd were always the engineers) and I would be the conductor/ticket agent. Tickets were sold off a card table just inside the freight room on the track side of the depot. Cash was kept in a cash box and carefully stowed away in the coal stove located in the former agents office. The freight door was carefully closed and locked and the ticket agent turned into a conductor and took his place on the end of the train as it backed down to the current end of track. Am I remembering this all correctly Jerry, JP and Rick?
