One thing that is clear is that the D&RGW had four of them at the 1949 fair, as I stated. That information came from a reprinted flyer from the event in Andy Payne's "Grande Gold".
If what Jason said is right, the C&S did not convert any gons in '39.
I do not have any pictures of the #9 at the 1949 fair, but I do know that it was at the 1949 Exposition that #9 made her inglorious debut as "Chief Crazy Horse", the details of which are still being corrected today. That supreme act of vandalism was committed by the CB&Q.
#268, as you may recall, was dolled up as the "Montezuma".
Maybe the conspiracy between the two roads was deeper that we thought, if the D&RGW actually cobbled up some matching gons for the event.
