That creation is 482's tank on 483's (bent) frame. When the D&S came to get an engine in the 497 swap, they decided on 482 instead of 483 because 482 needed less boiler work (it was their choice). 483's tender was in much better shape (it held water - 482's didn't even hold light from getting inside), but the frame was badly bend from the 1958 wreck at Grandview. So, they took 483's tank and 482's frame,

The D&S took as many parts as they could from 483 to make a complete engine, which is why 483 is in the shape it is now.
Just think, if the D&S had chosen 483 back then, (we had much more practical commissioners then) last fall the 482 would have gone to Durango, and 478 would be in Chama.......
