According to a 1920 roster I have Harry Hurley was killed in a wreck east of Sublette in Dec. 1919, the same year that Peake was killed, which is perhaps where the confusion comes in. According to my records, there were three engineers killed on the 4th division in 1919, Charles Birkner ("slate cuts near Cresco") Feb 28, Ralph Peake (near Durango on RGS) Sept. 8, and Harry Hurley (East of Sublette) Dec.,
I don't show a Harry Hurley on the pre-1920 roster. There is a "J.H. Hurley" with the only note being off the roster 1/01/20. So, maybe J.H. went by the name of Harry . There is another Hurley, Micheal Hurley, hired as an engineer 12/20/1889, off roster 1/01/1929.
