If one were to travel left to right in the photo would we be going from Gunnison east toward Salida? In 1969 my dad and I made a trip to Colorado, partially for business and some for trains. The freight ops were finished, but we went to Durango, and probably rode the Silverton Train, poked around Alamosa and so forth. I remember he was driving as we went over the old RR line which was mostly a road then, and passing at least one tank near the pass. As I remember it, the tank was on the south side of the road(passenger side if traveling to Salida). But then it could have been another tank someowhere up there I guess. Am no expert on Marshall Pass by any stretch!!
