Hi,
I think that both GE 45 tonners on the C&TS came from Hawaii - hence the nick name "Pinapples".
I think four (4) narrow gauge mikados were there during WWII. They were built to the D&RGW K28 plans but did not look like a K28 - the appliances were different.
I just double checked. The sceen where Rockwell Torrey (John Wayne) leaves the heavy cruiser after being relieved follows him leaving his former command (actually USN Cruiser Saint Paul) and down onto the dock - look at the dock itself and you will see a narrow gauge turnout and track there. The movie was released in 1965 so the remains of the originial track where C&TS 15 and 19 ran were still there. I think it was abandoned by 1964 but I do not recal when the USN quite using the remnants of the Ouhu.

Harm's Way is a 1962 war novel by James Bassett.
Apparently the book had at least one more major action (Midway) than the movie. The special effects were very bad. Kirk Duuglass (Commander Eddington) offered to pay for redone special effects - he was turned down.
Many a great book was cut down to fit a movie format and it left a lot to be desired.
