Most hardrock mines have some radiation. It's natural and nothing can be done about radiation, as it occurs naturally throughout the west. I worked in Allied Chemical's flourspar mine near Jamestown ...... the water leaching through the drifts was very high in radon. At one time we had a drinking fountain underground which was fed from a spring .... nice water with good taste. Mine inspectors tested it and found it was something like 1,000 times the safe radiation level .... no more drinking fountain!
