Indeed it is the original location of Los Pinos Siding. If you look closely on the north side of the track you can see where it was and there are still faint imprints of ties in the dirt. The siding was rather short (15-20 cars) and wrapped around an S-curve. The siding was moved to its present spot near MP 325 in about 1925. As to why it was orginally located here is a good question as the new siding is almost exactly 1/2 way between Cumbres & Osier. My guess is it's close to the old toll road and it might have been a good transfer point from rail to wagons. The location is a natural terrace of the river bank. The new Los Pinos Siding had to be constructed out of a large amount of fill.
