I had a surprise visit from Johnson Barr today--the guy actually exists and is every inch what he portrays in his various indecipherable posts on this forum. But, I gave him the grand tour, starting with our parking lot, then on to the Silverton Northern's new trackwork--he wondered where it starts and will there be an end, then on to the post office where he spotted an errant mattress hanging off the back of the Grand Imperial on the fire escape, and he speculated on the wild goings on in the D&S's newest enterprise, then onto the Silverton Northern engine house where he complimented the 315 guys for finally getting accurate D&RGW lettering on refrigerator car 54, and a final stop at the depot to watch the only operational steam locomotive on the D&S, the 473, pull the first train into town with 10 coaches--the station agent had to correct him by telling him that the 480 was actually the star of the fleet, and he parted company by making a sizable donation to the SN's K-37 acquisition fund. He's an all-around (literally) nice guy and not the pompous ass he portrays in his posts. I was hesitant to offer him one of our morning's doughnuts, but any sense of formality he shows in his posts evaporated when there was food within reach. I've met a few of you who post here, but Mr. Johnson Barr certainly takes the cake (and/or doughnut).
