Operational as in up and back, i.e., start off in the city of Durango, get to Silverton in one piece and then return to Durango pulling the same train, and hopefully in the same day. The performance record has been spotty the past several weeks as the diesels are getting a work out while the limp steam engines had their own individual problems, except for the 473, which comes through as a champ. And it pulled a full train of 10 cars, just like it did back in the days of the almost forgotten D&RGW, even pulling an extra empty coach from Tall Timbers to Silverton as that much dead weight.
