I was on the WP&Y in May and a woman was riding the open platform on the car ahead of us (thank God not ours) for the purpose of being a block to anyone taking photos.
Okay, it seemed like that but she was seriously put off if anyone asked if they could budge in for a quick shot. She didn't even have a camera at first. She busted out her tiny little cell phone to take a photo of that big abandoned bridge and the swaying of the car should have been familiar to her, but it wasn't.
Bump.
Oops.
Phone go bye-bye.
She started yelling that they needed to stop the train. Everyone on my platform started snickering. I yelled over when she asked what was so funny, that, "Lady, this railroad is pretty busy. They're not stopping for your cell phone." She yelled out, "SO, HOW DO I GET IT BACK?"
"You don't," I replied, unless you want to hike back up there from Skagway once she returned.
My Army days taught me that
anything you don't want to lose in a moving environment, have a lanyard or tie down on it.
