>Another case of "Build it and they will come"
Well actually not. Face it, Chama has a lot more to offer a railroad fan than Antonito. Everyone contemplating attending a work session should go to one in Chama first. There's something to be said about working in the Chama yard.
After you've been there more once, your interests may change. You may now be more interested in making your hard work count, seeing something come of all your hard work. Now it matters less of where you work, but what you work on is the driving force. Sometimes that means that you work somewhere other than Chama. The last couple years the Antonito CRF has proven to be a good place to do major freight car overhauls that can't be done in the Chama yard.
Someday there may be a CRF in Chama. Does that spell the end of the Antonito CRF projects? I hope not. We will need both facilities to take on the bigger projects in the future. Maybe OM, which by the way, was the project that started discussions on building a CRF over 20 years ago, gets the nod for a total restoration. Hopefully people have a good time and accomplish a lot done regardless of which side you work on.
