The Salt Lake & Mercur did not end in 1913. In the early 1920s the SL&M purchased former Colorado & Southern n.g. combine #23 that had been converted to standard gauge by Herr Rebican Supply Co. (dealer). Car was repainted and clearly lettered for Salt Lake & Mercur #23 and for Wells Fargo & Co. Express.
This car was later derailed and turned-over on the twisting SL&M. The event was captured in a series of stereo photographs. The full story with a number of photographs will appear in the next issue of THE BOGIES & THE LOOP, historical publication of the DSP&P Historical Society.
