Hi Railroadfan7; Attached are photos of Bob Day's Pioneer Mill #1 0-4-2T (May 1956) and #3 0-4-2T+T (Oct 1955) in operation on his estate at 600 Tigertail Road (Bel Aire) in Los Angeles. The steam locos arrived in April 1953 and were beautifully rebuilt by Bob and friends.
Bob also acquired Pioneer Mill #2, a 5 ton Whitcomb 0-4-0 gas loco that was originally a 2 foot gauge engine on the Olowalu Sugar Co. line on Maui, before going to the Pioneer Mill 30" gauge operation in 1932.
Bob also built a two stall enginehouse, caboose, a water Tank and a small depot, which he named "Lahaina". The distrious Bel Aire fire on November 6, 1961 destroyed his home, the enginehouse and badly damaged the two steam locomotives. The depot and #2 gas loco survived, but personal problems soon saw what was left sold and the railroad abandoned.
