As promised (or threatened?) yesterday -
The day after the September 22 Moonlight Dinner Train to Osier was a busy one for the C&TS
:
fourteen rider boxcars plus the Hinmann Car required #484 to help #483 pull the eastbound
train from Chama to Cumbres. The day started off with heavy clouds while the engines were
serviced, but brightened a bit as the train left town and passed Jukes Tree Number Three
:*
It was dark again by the time the train stopped at Lobato to allow #484 to uncouple and cross the trestle, and not much brighter on the hillside above Hamilton's point
:
The sun finally broke through as the train passed Coxo and rounded Windy Point, and the day remained bright at #484 turned on the snowshed-covered wye and headed home to Chama. I chased #483 and her train as far as Los Pinos Tank
:
There were four of those dark orange buses at Cumbres - IIRC, in those days the eastbound and westbound trains were on different days, so the buses had probably brought many of the passengers from Antonito to Chama that morning, and were returning to Antonito to bring the others back to Chama that evening.

* See [
ngdiscussion.net] et seq, and while comparing the two Jukes Trees note also that the logo on the engineer's side of #487 slanted forward in August, 2010 - which is NOT how it was painted in 1960
