Actually "Night Passage" was the movie title. The upper tram towers have been destroyed by avalanches, but the lower section with several towers is still relatively intact. There are massive wedge stone structures built on the upper end to protect the towers, but they didn't always work. Loss of towers was always a problem and plans for each tower were filed with CF&I in Pueblo so that a replacement tower or two could be fabricated and shipped to Silverton for rebuilding. The tram line was operational into the late 60s as Standard Metals would use it occasionally for exploration work at the Mayflower Mine that they almost put back into production. The Mayflower came in under the Silver Lake workings and operated until 1952.
