Good to see you surface!
Actually the 484 Hoot story is filed in my gray matter filing system. Russell told it to me originally (he was probably one of the instigators too). I kept seeing the thing in the old tool room in Chama over the years. Each time I saw it I was reminded of the story.
Funny how I can remember this stuff, but no remember to pick up my wife at the hair salon in 2 hrs.
I lucklily missed out on the "hostle your own locomotive program", although it tried to surface occasionally during times when the mechanical needed extra help. Nothing like getting getting all filthy and lungs full of crud, just in time to put on your happy face and greet the public.
Still remember my first trip up the hill with you and Marvin on 484 hauling all those HEAVY flat cars. Ramsey still talks about making a run for the caboose as it whizzed by at 12 mph as we bombed out of town.
Yes, it was a real adventure back then.....
