The 1915 Railway Equipment Register has a paragraph or two on the assigning of reporting marks, and makes the comment that every effort was made to have no duplicate marks assigned to standard gauge railroads.

To me that sounds like there would be no problem with a SG and a NG railroad having the same marks.
