I'm interested in the possibility that one of Mears' locomotives on the RGS made it to Silverton (town), or even onto any or all of Mears' three little lines running north out of Silverton. Mears did on occasion reside in Silverton, and he did purchase a 4-4-0, RGS 36,in late 1891, which was known to haul the Rico and San Juan (now Edna). Would Mears have the clout to have his own equipment run north from Durango?
Would that the paperwork of the (original) Silverton RR had survived. The Kelly survey was recently found at the archives in Silverton. What might pop up next?
