I found the reading interesting. What struck me is how little overall was running really. Think about this considering what year it was.
(1)Alamosa to Durango....only the two passenger trains
(2) Chama to Alamosa one freight which had a helper to Cumbres
(3) 1 Freight from Durango-Farmington-Durango
(4) I train Salida-GUnnison-return
(5) Couple of branch line workings out of Gunnison
But here is where nothing much was happening.
(a)no freight between Chama and Durango
(b)no westbound freight between Alamosa and Chama
(c)nothing on the Valley line Alamosa-Salida
(d)nothing on the Monarch branch
(e)nothing on the Silverton Branch
So as much as we like to think the 40's were full of train action, there was not really a ton of stuff going on during this one day.
Thanks for posting.
