After setting out the tank car we backed up to Spruce, then down the hill to Cass for the night.
The next morning we were out bright (?) and early running Heisler 6 light engine again to Spruce. We departed at 700am to get to Spruce by 830am. The passenger escort train departed Cheat Bridge at 800am to get to Spruce by 845. The day before the deadhead move from Elkins brought a 9 car freight train to Spruce for us to pull. Spruce is a great location for photography. The railroad makes a sweeping 180 degree curve with a hillside than makes for perfect amphitheater to watch trains from. After topping off our water, we coupled to our train and backed it up the 2% grade to get ready for the first of several runbys. I stepped down to oil around and under #6 and paused for a pic in the morning light. Note my long oiler to the left of #6.
After several runbys and tanking up again, we ran around the passenger train and headed down the Cheat River in search of more runby sites.
Here's our 9 car freight train (with B&O bay window caboose!) rolling along behind us along the Cheat River.
